People (I wont name names) got really mad at me tonight when they found out that I had a bass recital and did not invite them to it. I told them that they wouldn't have come anyway, that just made them even more mad. The thing is, I don't want people to come see me until I sound good, at this point I sound really awful. I mean it's just nasty. Part of it is my bass, and part of it is my lack of experience. But all in all I don't sound good so what is the point of inviting people to hear me suck?

I asked my bass teacher when I should try to get into orchestra and he told me that I will be in it this fall. He said, "Yeah, I'm throwing you in the deep end" and "it will kick your a** in the beginning" in that conversation. So I am going to try to practice a lot this summer. I think he sees that I have a lot of talent but not very much motivation so he is just going to force me into this which will in turn force me into the practice rooms 3-4 hours a day. He is a tricksy fellow, I'm on to him.
