We went to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre today. This is one of the two places where they think Jesus was crucified. There is a hugh freaking church there and five different denominations have a section of the church. The all hate each other and there is no unity in any way. It freaking pisses me off because it's a perfect picture of the state that the Christian church is in world wide. The five denominations there are the Greek Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Armenian Apostolic, Coptic Orthodox, and the Ethiopian Orthodox.
Here's one example of how terrible they are to each other. When the stupid Greek Orthodox gather together to do something the freaking Roman Catholics run down and play their organ really loud to disturb them. Ridiculous huh? Also there is this one room that is in total disrepair because of a fire. It belongs to the Armenians I think, but they can't repair it because they need the consent of all other four groups to do anything. Well, the Coptics hate them so they won't consent to let them repair the stupid room! Isn't this just a perfect picture of the modern church?
A few verses come to mind. Matthew 12:22-30, Ephesians, 4:1-4, and Colossians 2:1-3. Why can't people just screw this denomination crap and agree to love Jesus and love others. Everything else would fall into its freakin place if people would just give up their selfishness! It makes me angry enough to cuss.
Speaking of cussing, our tour guide was talking about when peter denied Jesus three times. He said, "... and that's where Peter denied Jesus because he was scared shitless". I figure that is probably the most appropriate time to use that phrase. Ever.
