I know I haven't posted anything about what I'm doing in a while. Mostly because I'm busy, but also because I'm not wasting my free time online as much as I used to. Praise God for that!
The semester is going pretty good so far. To be honest academically it's much easier than last semester, but it's way harder in every other area. I feel like I'm just being tested at every turn. My roommates are all great. And compared to last semester they are a lot easier to get along with. I think I bug them (at least one of them) by my mere existence. That's almost worse than having them bug me. I can deal with other people annoying me but when I bug people and there is nothing I can do about it's more of a bummer somehow. If that makes sense.
Technically I'm taking something like 28 credits. Practically I'm taking around 22. I don't know the exact numbers. I did 6 credits worth of Chuck Tracks over the break so I wouldn't have to do them this semester. Best decision I ever made. Other than that I'm in Revelation, Matthew, Biblical Preaching, Biblical Theology, Apologetics, Japanese 2, Men's D, Lectures, and the two required non-classes (M1 and Morning Devos). And I'm also studying Chinese with Kayo. Life is busy. Life is good. Only because God is good though.
Asa is still here. Better behaved than last semester, but still the same old Asa.
Gershon, one of my roommates. He's a really good guitarist. And he's from Germany.
Keegan, my other roommate and the only returning student. But only because his dad lives on base and he's stuck in Okinawa for a year.
So last Monday we went to Ikei Island and bummed on the beach all day. Daniel made a spear to try to catch things, these guys showed up and were showing him the basics (pictured below). I talked to one for a little while and he explained to me how to eat sea urchin. So next time I go to a beach you had better believe I'm going to crack into those babies! Just wait for those pictures.
Alright, so after being here for a few weeks I was getting a little bummed out because it just seemed like the same old thing. It just seemed like I was growing at all, basically like I was in a rut. Then the Sakura bloomed. I walked out one morning and this tree in our front yard had gone wild over night. It is so beautiful! God used that to show me how amazing it is just to be alive. Just that ought be enough, but then He does things like sending me around the world! Why does He love me so much? I'll never understand.
On Friday I walked around loads. It was really good just to hang out with Jesus all day. He's so good. I took this picture. Nothing special. just though it was cool. I'm going to go back at night and take a long exposure picture. Cliche, I know.
Friday evening I walked around with Keegan. We found a cool little shop, but it was closed so we're going to go back during the day sometime. We tried to get lost, but we've been here to long to do that. Stopped by a lawsons and got some coffee. Went to a park for a bit, where I used this urinal. It's totally in the open. I love being a guy...
After that we came home at about 8. They were having the prayer meeting so we didn't want to intrude. We ended up going to a park closer to the house and I spent some time praying and reading while he carved a crochet hook. It was a beautiful night. We came back after the prayer meeting and I took this picture of Tim and Aiyu. What a weird couple.
Saturday was super busy. The church had a Men's Breakfast at 8:30. It was amazing. But I realized how heavy american food is after being on a Japanese diet. I wanted to die after eating it. Straight after that we went to help Natsuki's family move. It took 10 guys and her whole family about five hours to move across the street. And they were moving into a 3 story apartment with no elevator. It was really fun overall. I didn't get any pictures but their new place is really nice.
Straight after that we went to Nate's house to hang out. The guys went out to a park to throw a football around. I decided to go over and see how everything was going. Then I see this:
Oh yeah, meet Matt. He is my third roommate. He came in 5 days ago because he had some trouble with his passport. In any case. 5th day here and he messes up his finger. Bummer eh? Here they are trying to set it:
Then Matt (there are two of them here) made a legit splint for it while they went to the hospital. Turns out his finger wasn't broken but the tendon was messed up. Here's the makeshift splint that Matt made. This was when they were leaving to the hospital to have real Doctors deal with it.
Exciting stuff, I know. But not as cool as this. I just finished writing a song about Melchizedek. Yeah, Melchizedek. I get tired of these Christian song's that just are pretty much like any other song but with a capital You here and there. So I'm trying to write more story type songs. I play the guitar, banjo, and sing in this. Another student brought a banjo. It's totally awesome. Go listen to it now and let me know what you think! Click me!
Pray that God would continue to keep me wise with my time. There seems to be no time for things like homework, studying, reading, etc. I need to learn how to bend time to fit everything in. And pray that He would make this group united. Even though it's smaller than last semester and the personalities don't blatantly conflict as much there seems to be more people getting annoyed easier than last semester. I think it's because we aren't praying as much as last semester. I'm working on it though!
peace 'n love
