Yesterday was amazingly relaxing. I created a new sanctuary. A small room in the back of the Koinonia Thrift Store. The Thrift Store is a new ministry we started this semester. Apparently I'm the one who runs it. Manager, CEO? Whatever. So I'm one of the few who has a key to the place. It's super ghetto, but we're getting everything together real nice.
Back to the sanctuary I created. The Thrift Store has a back room that is all dark and dingy, the floor is really sloped to the left, no real light, etc. I set up a really ghetto card table pushed up against the wall to compensate for it's wobbles. I found a lamp in the thrift store with no lamp shade that works nicely. And voilá! My own quiet, cool (temperature wise), study area. I got so much work done in there. If I hadn't made a place like that I think I might have gone insane. It's hard for me to get everything finished with people around me all day. I love my Thrift Store job.
Tonight a mission team comes in from the States. They are here for two weeks I think. Next week the church is having a Passion Week. We will have a service every night of the week leading up the Jesus' death on Friday (that night we will show The Passion, have an outreach on Saturday, and two sunrise services on Sunday. So this week going to be loads of outreach and inviting people to come to passion week. Super busy.
Of course next week with a service every night and school all day. Madness.
But it only gets better! Right after that a team from California comes in to do a worship conference. So we will be busy with all that for the week after Passion Week.
I love serving in Japan. What would I be doing if I had gone to Murrieta? Nothing, just sitting around, learning, eating boring food, probably not doing anything in ministry. God is so so good to me.
