Weihai

There was a trip with some of the new teachers at the school last Saturday. We went to Weihai for a little sight seeing. It was such a blast. It was really good to get a bit closer to some of the Korean teachers I haven't had a chance to talk with.

Language is a problem as always. We are forced to break out our crappy Chinese. But it makes for some good fun. I'm dabbling in Korean a bit, and as I do so I realize that it is probably the harder than Japanese or Chinese. It's like Japanese grammar with stranger sounds than Chinese... in my humble opinion.

We went to a couple places. First we hit a temple. It's really famous for Koreans because of some great Korean general who killed loads of pirates or something. There were too many people to get many decent photos. But here are the cream of the proverbial crop.

I like taking photos of statues, they never make a bad pose!
Avi and Leo. Really great friends.
Most of these people were Chinese students. I got bombarded with people asking for photos with me. Funny kids.
Dan, a new teacher. He showed up only a couple weeks ago. Nice guy. Really smart.
This is Mary. Not my student, but a great kid. Victoria is in the background. That girl is probably smarter than me. She's only 14 and her English is so good she should be teaching. We were talking about the Aztecs and she told me more about them than I even knew! How random is that?
Then we hit up a zoo.
Without a doubt the best photo I took all day.
These guys were in a pit called "Harmonious Paradise" which also had a lion and a panther (not pictured). These animals looked quite a bit fatter than the others...
This wins second best photo.
And this might pull up in a close third.
Poor little guy.
I don't think I've seen a monkey look so wise.
Pretty.
Depressing

Unfortunately this Saturday will not be as much fun. I have to give another mock TOEFL test. At least I'll get paid a bit for it. And it should also be the last Saturday I work all year! So I guess it's not so bad, but I did want to go out a bit tonight. Sigh.

You're a great photographer! I like that you started to put your name on the corner too. And I like the different things that I can see on the reflection of Dan's sunglasses!
    Good stuff.

While I don't disagree with your assessment of the tiger being the best photo, the rest of them are all second place, in my uneducated opinion. My eyes might not be sensitive to photographic excellence, but I loved what I saw!

BTW, Saturdays at work STINK don't they? I have too many of those.

I am back and I absolutamente loved the pictures! You use that cool big fatty camera right? I am in the market for a new camera but I break things way to easy so a big camera is a no no. I liked the ardilla ( I can't spell sqirell for the life of me... dang.... squirrel aw finally.) ardilla=squirrel
