Like I said yesterday, we went on a vacation or retreat or whatever you want to call it. It took about four or five hours in a coach to get there. I got nauseous because of the constant hills and curves, not to mention the coach got ridiculously hot for the last hour. In any case we arrived and it was beautiful. I couldn't believe it. No world this fallen should look this good. It rekindled the part of me that longs for travels. I can't wait until I go to Israel. I can't wait for summer. sigh...

God gave me some big things to pray about. It was really good. I spent some time praying on top of the hill I hiked and it was really great. Mostly though He showed me that I need to slow down my life. Honestly it's already a bit slower than most peoples, but we fill out lives with all this crap that is totally unnecessary. You get to the point of relying so much on coffee that you shorten your prayer in the morning so you can stop by starbucks on the way to work. During your lunch break you are thinking about some problem at work. At home the TV goes on straight away, there are newspapers on the coffee tables, music in the background, thoughts about what will happen tomorrow racing through your head before you go to sleep.

All of this drowns out the voice of God. We don't make time to go out and simply sit before the Lord. And if we do we take our Bible, try to listen to God without your Bible for once. It's incredible. Rely on the Holy Spirit to speak to you, He will speak. And He doesn't only speak though the Bible. Try it, I dare you. People smash "eastern meditation" when really they should be doing the same thing. Go sit somewhere and try to empty your mind of all the chaos that has filled it in order to hear the voice of God. Isn't that what prayer is most of the time, but instead of doing the talking do the listening this time. It's pretty much amazing.

Alright, moving on.

We had a lecture or teaching or whatever you want to call it every morning and night. Other than that we were free. I walked down to the closest town with some friends. We saw William Wordsworth's grave, had some wicked good ginger bread, got some tea and headed back. I feel like a bum because I only took one or two pictures.

The next day was really sweet. I went for a little hike by myself and it was tons of fun. I befriended a sheep that originally was pretty pissed off at me. I startled him when I was walking up and he almost charged me. I backed off and gave him his distance and he ended up following me for the next 50 yards or so. I like him.
