Last night I realized how blessed I am. Not in any material way, although I'm pretty well set up for the lifestyle I want. I'm blessed because I'm not prejudice in any way. I'm only just realizing this now because every english person hates every scottish person. It's ridiculous because they don't even know why! Along those same lines most Americans hate the French for no reason.
One guy the other night said that he didn't feel bad that there weren't very many missionaries in France. There are only two Calvary Chapels in France, not that Calvary Chapel is the only church but it's the only resource I can judge things by right now. There are thirteen Calvary Chapels in Hungary. France is quite a bit bigger than Hungary as well. Anyway, he pointed out that there are only two in France and proceeded to say, "I can't say I feel bad about that". That made me really sad.
The fact that many Christian's unfounded prejudice is rooted so deeply that they don't even care that some people are going to hell really pisses me off! Who are these Christians that think they are better than anyone else? Granted, that is an extreme case, but a lot of Christians won't even talk to someone if they smell bad. Who cares if someone smells like urine, does that make you any better than them? C'mon people!
Oh, here's another example. Christians and gay people. Christians look at homosexuality like it's such a horrible thing. But in God's eyes is it any worse than pride, lying, materialism, prejudice? No! A proud Christian is in just as much sin as a homosexual. The Christian is just covered by Christ.
How about gay marriage? I'm not about to defend it, to be honest I'm pretty much against it, but I don't think Christians can say anything against gay marriage until their marriages start showing that it will even work between a man and a women. Yeah, I said it. I think that when homosexuals start getting married their marriages would probably last longer than your average Christian marriage because they will value it more. If you are going to outlaw gay marriage you might as well make it illegal for people to shack up before they are married. You had better make divorce illegal as well, you can't pick one Biblical principal to enforce and ignore others. Gay people are not Christians so you can't expect them to live by Christian morals. Christians talk about the sanctity of marriage, where is it in the church? The divorce rates are the same, Christian husbands and wives cheat on each other just as much as non-Christians. Oh, you're mad at me now. What of it.
I know, now everyone is probably thinking how terrible I am. "He went to Bible College and is turning all liberal!" "He's talking about tattoo's too!" The only thing that has changed is my heart. I'm sick of compromise in my own life. I'm sick of it in the church. And I'm sick of not having a broken heart over sin. I've been praying that God would break my heart over these exact things and He has. Just not in the way I expected. My heart isn't breaking for the people who are in these sins, but it's breaking for the Christians that judge them. As if one sin is greater than any other. As if Christians have the right to judge non-Christians like they are Christians. Sinners sin, that's what they do. Christians sin, that's what they do but hopefully they repent. Not usually though...
I'm just glad that I'm not prejudice. And if I may be prejudice in any way I pray that God would kick my butt over it.
I'm sorry of I offended any of you... kind of.
